- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup no-sugar-added applesauce
- 1 ½ cups finely diced Honeycrisp apples (about 2 medium apples)
For the Apple Glaze
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ⅓ cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or apple juice
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the Fritter Batter
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together:
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Cinnamon
- In a separate large bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugar. Add the egg and whisk until smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla and applesauce.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until combined.
- Fold in the finely diced apples.
2. Shape & Bake
- Scoop 1 tablespoon of batter for each fritter, spacing them a few inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn your broiler on high.
🍏 3. Make the Glaze
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and apple cider/juice until the glaze is pourable and thin.
🔥 4. Glaze & Broil
- Brush each warm fritter generously with glaze and allow it to drip down the sides.
- Broil for 2–4 minutes, rotating the pan every minute to ensure even caramelization.
⚠️ Watch carefully—glaze can burn quickly! - Remove from the oven and brush the remaining glaze over the warm fritters.
- Let them sit for about 15 minutes, until the glaze fully sets and hardens.
✨ Enjoy!
These Apple Fritter Bites are best eaten fresh, but they keep well in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven for a warm, caramelized finish.
